Polina Bykanova was born in 1999 in Moscow, Russia.
Graduated from British Higher School of Art & Design
and The Rodchenko School of Photography & Multimedia in Moscow. Education has allowed Bykanova to master the entire cycle of photography production. From the shutter release to the independent manual development of photographs in her custom workshop.
For Bykanova, photography is a means of exploring social interactions, their flaws, and moderately distorted beauty.
In her works, the artist addresses the issue of injustice in capitalist society and, on the other hand, the fate, personal and collective traumas, the depth of human creativity, and detachment from the harsh world. The images carry countless experiences and traumas, pain and fear, anger, loneliness, and simultaneously love, gratitude, and happiness. The camera in the hands of the artist becomes a tool for creating impressions or cultural commentaries on our time.
By experimenting with various techniques, hand printing,
video art, and collage, Bykanova continues to expand her possibilities. And she continues to create a mysterious archive of the time that surrounds us.
